The Day You Stop Trying, is The Day You Stop Living

What a perfect day - in fact what a perfect week so far! The sun has been out for a change (something I've seen little of going by my fading tan lines) and the riding has been equally good. On Sunday I raced the Beauvechain Kermesse, which for me was an eventful day....

I was sitting in the main field, which was split in two courtesy of a typical Belgian attack (flat out for 2 minutes, then turn around and see your wake of destruction!) so I bridged across with a bunch of other riders looking just as desperate. We rejoined the field along a windy section of the course, which is where I slammed into a huge bump in the road... The guy behind me also hit the bump, elbowed me and sent me off the road. I went scooting along the grass/mud at a mere 50km/h - just another day racing!

My race ended that lap, 30km into the race, with a cut tyre. I fixed the problem and rode home, not happy in the least with my current 50% finish rate. I've cramped in one race, crashed out in one and finished two relatively well. Something I need to do more of. Otherwise some good miles ontop of racing has left me tired, but with a solid base for the months ahead. Hopefully the learning now will pay dividends soon, and throughout the following months!

Time to go cook and then watch a movie. It sounds like fun, but anything becomes a chore when you do it every night; even watching movies ;)
