With the 2009 racing season coming to a close, only a few small races remain. Races such as the Sydey Criteriums, Berry Criteriums and local club events are all that remain; but these events are perfect to integrate into my training for the upcoming National Championships to be held in Ballarat, in January 2010.

I've looked back on my 2009 season, my first proper full racing year in road - and along with the memories, I've also tried to recall any weaknesses. The two main points of weakness are my basic power output, and my climbing. Although I've improved drastically in both these areas since my Belgian campaign, I'm still not going to stop working.

To combat the lack of power, I've taken up a more focused gym program, including squats and the like. But keeping my previously injured right knee in mind, I can't get too carried away! I'm also undertaking a 4 week climbing program, and am feeling the effects already, in small ways...

During all of the training, I will also be incorporating the Sydney Criteriums etc. But once I complete the National Champs, I intend taking a bit more time off than my recent 4 day break. It's been a long year, but the more focused training should help pass the weeks quicker!
